Fifteen years ago Bandleader John M. Krizan decided to come out of retirement and rejoin music. He needed some fun in his life and wanted to entertain audiences again. That’s when the rockin’ country band, WayWard Wynd, came together.
“All of the names I chose for bands included the “wind” as I felt we were always in the wind, flying smoothly and enjoying what we do best.” – John M. Krizan
Inspired by many, from Eric Clapton, Keith Richards and The Byrds, to Luke Bryan, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams and Patsy Cline, and even Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennet, WayWard Wynd plays popular songs and music they like. Their show is made up of classic style country, modern Top 40 County – and anything in between. Recently, British classic rock was added to the set list.
WayWard Wynd’s performance is more than just music – it’s full of group participation. The band will take song suggestions, playing the frequently requested tunes “Move It” sung by Cliff Richard and played by The Shadows (Britian’s answer to The Ventures) and “Wagon Wheel” by Darius Rucker. They love to get to know their audience by talking to them, telling jokes and involving them in every way they can.
