Music of CAMF – SuP!

SuP is accompanying us at the festival this year and they’re 11050272_636871793081264_2339853796787542384_nready to bring an energetic and dance-worthy performance! We caught up with them to learn a little more about the band and what to expect.

The group formed when Tom and Josh B were assigned to be roommates at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), and were joined by Josh W when he responded to their poster on campus asking for another member. The full name of the band is Subjective Perspective, but people call them SuP for short because of their energetic and goofy stage persona.

SuP plays Pop Rock with an alternative, punk-like twist. SuP is known on the RIT campus for their rendition of “Free-Bird” which, as a result, is requested very frequently. Don’t miss their performance of this fan favorite! The band is influenced particularly by – and often cover songs of: The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day, Weezer, Incubus, Lynard Skynrd, Nirvana, Blink 182, Jimi Hendrix, and many more. SuP warns us that the everyone should be prepared for the most energetic group of young goofy guys playing great music, and an urge to dance your pants off!

Don’t miss SuP at the festival on the Boylan Code Stage on Sunday, July 19 from 1:45 to 3 PM! They’ll bring an energy-filled performance that you’re not going to want to miss!

Welcome to Canandaigua, Boylan Code

Boylan Code is proud to sponsor this year’s Canandaigua Arts and Music Festival!

Here at Boylan Code, we make you our specialty. We hold you at the center of everything we do. Our

goal is to get to truly know you, your business, your issues, your challenges, and your opportunities. We

believe that such a personal and professional relationship will enrich your legal experience and enhance

our legal expertise.

We recently opened an office in Canandaigua!

Why did you choose Canandaigua for a new office location? Canandaigua was identified as a prime location to open a new office for a few reasons.  The first of which was clearly Canandaigua’s close proximity to Rochester.  In the 40 years since Boylan Code’s inception, our firm has worked hard to develop a reputation of excellence as a leading law firm in the Greater Rochester area.   We also had an opportunity to add John Gilbert, previously a principal at the firm of Scott & Gilbert LLP and located in the heart of Canandaigua for a number of years.

Boylan Code is growing at a healthy pace and one of our primary goals is to expand our presence in the surrounding counties and throughout Western New York.  Clearly, the decision to open a Canandaigua office was a “no brainer” because of the way that Ontario County has collectively grown and prospered as a community in recent years.  Ontario County’s population and household incomes continue to trend upward. Family owned businesses, start-ups and well-established corporations not only exist, but thrive throughout the region and were all contributing factors as to why we ultimately decided to expand the firm’s reach into Canandaigua.

Finally, the decision to open a new office was influenced by a perceived need to better service our existing client base.  Boylan Code represents individuals, family businesses, start-ups, corporations and municipalities throughout Ontario County, so the decision to open the new Canandaigua office made a number of current clients very happy since it saves them a trip to Rochester!

What other community efforts do you support? Our firm supports a number of charitable and civic organizations in the community. We are members of the Canandaigua Chamber of Commerce and the Victor Chamber of Commerce. The Firm also provides pro bono services through the auspices of the Volunteer Services Project, offers free seminars on a host of legal topics, including labor and employment law hot topics, trademark, copyright and patent law.

What are you looking forward to at the festival this year? Naturally, we are excited to see all of the wonderful arts and crafts, taste the various foods and just take in all the sights.  This festival always gets a great turnout because it’s family-friendly and there is just so much to experience, but most of all, we are looking forward to hearing the music, which will be playing throughout the entire event.   There are some tremendous artists set to perform this year that no one would want to miss.  Of course, you’ll find them all performing on the Boylan Code Stage!

How is working with Boylan Code different? What is the Boylan Code experience? Boylan Code provides an integrated suite of sophisticated legal services to discerning small and middle-market companies, municipalities, and individuals.  The firm engages in a broad practice in the areas of business, corporate and intellectual property law, municipal law, land use and zoning law, employment law, environmental law, litigation, estate planning and administration, real estate, and tax law.

While the firm has grown significantly since its founding in 1974 in response to ever more complex client needs, our commitment to client service remains unchanged.  We are still small enough to ensure close attention from partners who are strategically involved in all matters, and we are large enough to ensure that expertise is available from many areas of legal specialization.

Our highly qualified staff is an integral part of each client’s team, working in concert with partners and associates to avoid the costly layering of effort sometimes encountered in larger firms.  Our firm promise is to use our legal expertise purposefully and cost-effectively on our clients’ behalf. To support that promise, we utilize fully computerized, state of the art office technology; a well-equipped and staffed law library complemented by computerized legal research (Lexis), which is available at each attorney’s and paralegal’s personal computer; and full office automation to allow for the speed, flexibility, and professionalism that is critical to client satisfaction.

A crucial component of Boylan Code’s value to our clients is access to our ever-expanding network of professional resources and partner firms.  Whether our clients require legal counsel in other state or international jurisdictions, institutional or private financing, accounting services or financial planning, we are able to provide access to an array of trusted professionals who match our own standard of excellence in their respective fields.

How can people get in touch with you? People can log on to the Boylan Code website: and look around at what we do and who our attorneys are.  Of course, we welcome people to reach out to any of our attorneys via email or by phone and are more than happy to take the time to speak one-on-one, either by phone or in person, to discuss how Boylan Code can be of service to them.

Music of CAMF – Mike Pullano!

Mike Pullano will be making his way to the festival this year, so we caught up with him to learn a bit more about his music and what to expect.

Mike Pullano’s music focuses mostly on the singer/songwriter boom of the seventies and includes songs from James Taylor, Neil Young, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison and many more. He also plays songs of more contemporary writers such as John Hiatt and Kasey Chambers. Some of his music cannot be easily categorized, but are great, heartfelt songs. Of these inspirations, James Taylor sticks out to him the most. While Taylor’s band is great, his solo performances have resonated with Mike the most, and he admires his amazing talent.

After Jimmy Fallon’s dead-on impression of Neil Young with Young as a guest on the show, Mike has been getting more requests for his song “Old Man.” Most of his music includes covers of his favorite singers and songwriters, so if these artists speak to you, catch Mike Pullano at the festival this summer!

You can hear Mike Pullano on the Boylan Code Stage on Friday, July 17 from 12 to 1:15 PM for a musical throwback!

Canandaigua Botanical Society – Nature’s Pure Wonders

The Canandaigua Botanical Society is the second oldest society in continuous existence in the United States, dating back to 1874! The early group was composed of avid botanists who sought out and studied all types of plants growing in the local area. Today, the society is made up of individuals who have a wide range of knowledge and share a love of nature. Tulip Gilman

Message: The society has been dedicated to advancing knowledge and enjoyment of plants found in the Finger Lakes Region since 1874.

Inspirations: The great outdoors encourages members to participate in the societies’ leisurely hikes to learn the natural wonders that inhibit our region. Members strive to understand what is underfoot, overhead and all around when in the Finger Lakes Region.

Projects in WNY: The Canandaigua Botanical Society was instrumental in supporting and raising funds for the Lagoon Park Restoration Project. A vast majority of European Buckthorn was removed and replaced with native species of plants, shrubs and trees in order to restore the Lagoon Park to a habitat welcoming back native species of animals.

MAY 2014 PalMacgroupHow to Get Involved: Everyone is welcome to join the society at any events posted on their website. You do not need to be a member to attend, however members receive a printed Canandaigua Botanical Society Program Guide. Membership cost is $7 per year and $10 for couples and families. You can sign up to be a member at the festival!

What Kids Can Expect: Kids can check out a collection of pressed herbarium specimens and resources we use to identify plant species. Learn to identify poison ivy and other plants you might see in this region.
